Boiling Spring Lakes PD, fire dept. host bicycle safety day

Children will have a chance to participate in a bicycle safety day this Saturday in Boiling Spring Lakes.

Families are invited to the Boiling Spring Lakes City Hall parking lot for a community safety day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, according to a notice from Boiling Spring Lakes Police Chief Bradford Shirley.

Children ages 5-12 are invited to participate in the bicycle safety event. The Warrior Ride, VFW Post 10400 Boiling Spring Lakes North Carolina, Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department and the Boiling Spring Lakes Volunteer Fire Department will be sponsoring the  bicycle safety clinic and rodeo.

Local authorities will teach children about safety on the road, perform a helmet safety check and fitting, and go over proper maintenance and fitting of a bicycle. Participants will receive a free helmet.

After all the bicycles have been inspected for street safety there will be a Mini Warrior for one mile with the Warrior Ride Team.
