Wilmington police are searching for a man wanted in an armed robbery at a gas station convenience store early Wednesday morning.
A man entered the Handee Hugo, 4100 Oleander Drive, and robbed the business at 6:38 a.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.
The suspect showed a handgun, demanded money from the register and ran out of the store in an unknown direction, Lindsay said. The suspect is described as a six-foot tall back male who is in his mid to late 20s. He wore a floppy hat, possibly with a camouflage-like design, red and black shorts, and a dark T-shirt.

Two men charged in robbery at Oleander ATM
Two men were arrested in connection with an early morning robbery at a CashPoints ATM on Oleander Drive.
Several newspaper workers were robbed by a man with a handgun at the cash machine located at 1929 Oleander Drive near Food Lion at 4:46 a.m. Wednesday, according to Lindsay.
The suspect approached the victims’ vehicle in a gold-colored car and blocked them from leaving the area, Lindsay said. The man took cash from the victims and fled in the gold vehicle headed east on Oleander. The suspects dumped the car in Albert Circle and ran from the area.
Police captured the suspects – 18-year-old Michael Damon and 19-year-old Quran Thompson – and took them into custody, Lindsay said.
Damon, of Rocky Point, and Thompson, of Wilmington, have each been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to jail records. They were booked at the New Hanover County jail under $100,000 secured bonds.
One arrested, one wanted in Waffle House armed robbery
One man has been arrested and another is wanted in connection with an armed robbery at Waffle House last week.
Quashon Antonio Nixon, 22, was arrested on Rutledge Drive in Wilmington at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to Lindsay. He has been charged with an armed robbery at Waffle House, 2448 Carolina Beach Road, just after midnight Monday, Sept. 7.
Two suspects entered the restaurant, demanded everyone in the restaurant to turn off their cell phones and emptied the register. The suspects ran out of the business headed west.
Nixon has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of heroin, according to jail records. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $155,000 secured bond.
A second suspect in the case has not been charged.
