Danielle Kristen Dupuis Horne, 35, molded the lives of children as Gateway Academy director

Danielle Kristen Dupuis Horne, of Wilmington, died Sept. 8, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was 35.

She was born on July 12, 1980. She is survived by her husband, Richard Horne; daughters, Abbie and Lyndsey; son, Jack; mother, Susan Dupuis (Jot Owens); sister, Kimberly Dupuis; brother, Jot Owens IV (Melissa); father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Dianne Horne; sister-in-law, Dee Dee Pulley (Chris Pulley); nephew, Christopher Pulley; and many loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Paul Dupuis.

A devoted mother of three children, she fulfilled her passion by working as the director of Gateway Academy and molding the lives of many children. Danielle was known for her love of adventure, whether through deep-sea fishing or travel with her friends and family. She was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers.

Her true passion was photography. She thrived on capturing memories of her loved ones. Danielle loved all animals, including her four dogs, a quality she always related to her grandfather, “Daddy Jess.” Danielle’s faith in the Lord was strong and everlasting, which she shared with her church family at Seaside Chapel.

A celebration of Danielle’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Seaside Chapel, 108 S. Eighth St., Carolina Beach, NC 28428. There will be a reception to follow. Everyone is invited to stay to share stories about Danielle and, most of all, celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be sent to Seaside Chapel, P.O. Box 451, Carolina Beach, 28428.
