Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating an armed robbery at a local fast food restaurant.

Two masked men – one with a handgun and one with a knife – entered through a side door at Hardee’s, 1970 S. 17th St., at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

One of the suspects reportedly held an employee at knifepoint, while the other suspect held a second employee at gunpoint, Lindsay said. The two men took two cell phones and cash, then ran out of the business headed north.

The suspect with the gun wore a black short-sleeve shirt, light colored shorts and gray shoes with white socks. Both suspects had a shirt wrapped around their head and face.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3609 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES. Start your message with Tip708, then type your tip.
