Larry Grayson Cowan, of Wilmington, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 63.

Born Sept. 8, 1951, in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Carl Grayson Cowan and Bonnie Mickey Cowan.

Larry moved to Wilmington to attend college and later married Jacquelyn Miller Cowan on April 2, 1977. They enjoyed 38 years of marriage together.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Brent Grayson Cowan (Toni) and Jonathan Martin Cowan; grandchildren, Savannah, Grayson and Lillian; sisters, Mickey Reavis and Nancy Scott (Skeeter); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was the owner of Cowan’s Marine Service and spent over 40 years in the marine repair industry in the Wilmington area. He was a member of Winter Park Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed painting and woodworking, building beautiful furniture pieces for his house and for family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Winter Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

Flowers are certainly appreciated, but please consider memorial donations in his name to the Zimmer Cancer Clinic at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
