Crime notebook: Police investigate weekend shooting, robberies

According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley, the following incidents were reported Sept. 6-7.

  • Wilmington police are searching for a black male suspect who reportedly robbed M&B Cigarette Discount Store in the 800 block of Shipyard Boulevard just after 9 a.m. Monday. The suspect entered the store, threatened the clerk, and took cash and cigarettes. He drove away from the area in a burgundy pick-up truck headed east on Shipyard Boulevard. No injuries were reported.
  • Police are searching for two gunmen who reportedly robbed Waffle House, 2448 Carolina Beach Road, just after midnight Monday. The two suspects entered the restaurant, demanded everyone in the restaurant to turn off their cell phones and emptied the register. The suspects ran out of the business headed west.
  • A man was injured in a shooting in the 500 block of Walnut Street at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday. The victim was shot in the lower leg after an argument. The suspect was reportedly in one of three cars that were on the scene during the argument. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.
