Calling all dog owners — the City of Wilmington’s annual “Pooch Plunge” kicks off today.

Each year after the Labor Day holiday, it’s the dogs’ turn to take a dip in the Legion Stadium pool, according to a notice from the city. The pool, located at 2131 Carolina Beach Road, will be open for dogs only throughout the week.

The event is held annually the week of Labor Day after the pools are closed to the public. Admission into the pool is $5 per dog.

The pool schedule is as follows;

  • Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
