Crime notebook: Two men robbed at gunpoint on Birchwood Drive is your source for free news and information in the Wilmington area.

Wilmington police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Thursday night.

Two 26-year-old men were held at gunpoint in the 4200 block of Birchwood Drive at about 11:50 p.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

The victims reported they first saw the suspects at a Market Street convenience store where they went to make a purchase, Lindsay said. As they walked north on Birchwood Drive, the same men approached the victims from behind bushes.

A suspect reportedly hit one of the victims with a handgun, Lindsay said. The suspects took a wallet from the victims and ran from the area.

Both suspects are described as black males with brown eyes, between the ages of 19 and 25. One suspect is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He had on a multi-colored hat over dreadlocks. The second suspect is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. Both suspects wore black baggy pants with a dark shirt pulled over their faces.
