Jon Ray Baker, of Wilmington, died Aug. 29, 2015, at the age of 38.

He was born at Fort Bragg on June 12, 1977, to Helene Engdahl and Brad Baker.

Jon was an avid motorbike enthusiast, enjoying this hobby with his sons, Jake and Dylan, and his nephews. He was an accomplished mechanic fixing everyone’s mechanical needs. His musical talent included the violin and guitar. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his most-loved “Hoo Bear,” his daughter Hayden.

Jon is survived by his loving wife Katherine and three children, Jake, Hayden and Dylan; parents, Helene Engdahl, Brad Baker and his wife Shelly; sisters, Kathryn Moody and Summer Baker; brothers-in-law, James Yopp and Dr. Eric Yopp and much-loved nieces and nephews, Megan, Riley, Jeremiah, M.J., Keira, Aubrie, Abigail, Pearson, Grady and J.L.

Family and friends can visit anytime at the home of Mary and Jimmy Yopp.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, with Kelley Wheat-Rivers officiating. Immediately following the ceremony family and friends are invited to meet at the Yopps’ home.
