Nancy Fox Mills, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2015.

Mrs. Mills was the daughter of Rome and Hazel Fox and grew up in Statesville. She chose Carolina Beach to be her home and lived there for 32 years.

Mrs. Mills was a registered nurse and nursing was her passion. She worked as a hospice nurse and also volunteered at the Domestic Violence Women and Children’s House before her retirement. Mrs. Mills enjoyed life to the fullest, loved people and was a friend to many.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her daughter, Gloria Mills, of Georgetown, South Carolina; son, James Mitchell “Pete” Mills and wife Pam, of Kings Mountain; granddaughters, Lesley Childers (J.J.), of Charlotte, Christina Wilcox (Mark), of Charleston, South Carolina, Nancy Maria, of Georgetown, South Carolina and Lisa Lail (Monte), of Lincolnton; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; dear friend, Mike Brandon and devoted friend and caregiver, Judy Scherm, both of Carolina Beach; sister, Katherine Price; brothers, Homer Fox, John Fox and wife Bobbi and Brice Fox and wife Linda; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service to honor Nancy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, with the Rev. Harry Caldwell officiating.

The family suggests memorials be given to the J.O.Y. School University Day Program for people with special needs, 9967 U.S. 17, Pawley’s Island, SC, 29585, where Nancy’s granddaughter, Nancy Maria, attends.
