Marian Beck Rouse died peacefully on Aug. 20, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1948, in Wilmington, daughter of the late William Taylor Beck and Ruby Hope Beck.

Marian was a member of Grace Baptist Church for most of her adult life. Her church and church family were a very important part of her life. She worked in the labs at DuPont for 33 years and then for DAK-Americas for five years until her retirement.

She had a very quiet, gentle spirit and a tremendous gift of caring for anyone in need. Many times Marian put the needs of others above her own needs. She loved reading and gardening and her precious border collie, Sam.

Marian is survived by her sister, Mary Beck Hayes (Jesse); half-sister, Winnie Mahoney; aunt, Marion Beck Williamson; nieces, Teresa Hayes East, Diana Hayes Freeman (Kenneth), Deborah Cowles (J.D.) and Genelle Clark (Chris); and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Shipyard Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Please leave online condolences for the family at Andrews Mortuary.
