Jack Kiernan scored off an assist from John Evans and Roman Lewis made one stop in the clean sheet as New Hanover shutout Swansboro 1-0 on Friday. The Wildcats improved to 2-1 on the year and play against Sanderson High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday to wrap up the annual Battle at the Beach Tournament in Jacksonville.

Laney played to a 1-1 draw with West Carteret on Friday night. Nathaniel Lorenz set up Wesley Nelson in the 17th minute to give the Bucs an early one goal edge.

Ashley 4    Dixon 2

The Screaming Eagles opened the year under first-year coach Greg Marinich with a 4-2 result over Dixon on Friday night.

Josh Chapman tallied twice, while Josh Barnello and Diego Abraham both found the back of the net in the victory.

Cape Fear Academy 1     Topsail 1

Topsail scored four minutes into the first half, but Barton Williams scored on an assist by Matt Bangart in the 39th minute to level the match before the game was called due to lightning. Alec Wenning made seven saves for the Hurricanes, who moved to 3-0-2 this season.

South Brunswick 3    Parrott Academy 1

John Riddle scored and picked up an assist as South Brunswick defeated Parrott Academy 3-1 on Friday. Da’Shaun Schlemmer put the Cougars in front on a pass from Riddle, while Tanner Coley made it a two goal advantage off an assist from John Pratt.
