Florence Jarboe Carey, of Wilmington, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove. She was 88.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1926, in Yonkers, New York, the daughter of the late Frank and Florence Pike Jarboe. Also remembered are her husband, Robert Carey and son Robert W. Carey, both of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Carey retired in 1988 from Readers Digest, where she was a teletypist. She enjoyed movies, books and travel.

Surviving are her sons, Paul Carey and wife Vicky, of Leland and Christopher Carey and wife Clare, of Montrose, New York; daughter, Joan Varno and husband Jim, of Leland; daughter-in-law, Louise Carey; twin sister, Lorraine Corbett; grandchildren, Joshua, Seth, Robert S. and Gregory Carey; great-grandsons, Hunter, Ethan and Levi Carey; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A private interment will be held at a later date in Amawalk Cemetery in Yorktown Heights, New York.
