Haleigh Somberg had a strong day from the service line with seven aces and played a key role in the Bucs’ defense with six digs to help guide Laney to a 3-0 straight set season opening sweep on Monday.

Sarah Shropshire added six kills in the attack and Alex Erling picked up nine assists.

Claire Longshore (Sr.) did a good job moving from libero into setter and helped North Brunswick role to a 3-0 sweep over Union on Monday. She finished with 11 assists in the match and  tallied four aces, two kills and five digs.
Kaylee Scoggins (Jr.) also had a strong night for the Scorpions with seven aces, nine kills and 17 digs.
“I am proud of how hard the girls have worked this summer to gel as a team,” said North Brunswcik Coach Morgan Farroll. “We started out a little flat tonight, but once we settled down and got in our system I knew we had a good chance of getting a win. We did well on serves tonight and had a combined total of 19 aces. I am excited to see what this team will do this year.”



Cape Fear Academy 8   Epiphany School 0  (Monday)

Cape Fear Academy moved its early season record to 3-0-1 following an 8-0 shutout over Epiphany School. The Hurricanes found two goals within the opening 20 minutes of play and added three more just before the break to put Monday’s match out of range.

North Brunswick 4     Trask 0

Four different scorers found the back of the net to guide North Brunswick to a 4-0 win against Trask on Monday. Cole Masters made five saves to preserve the clean sheet.
