James ‘Jim’ Howard Booz, 75, doting ‘Poppop’ who served in the Coast Guard

James “Jim” Howard Booz, of Hampstead, died from lung cancer on Aug. 15, 2015, at the age of 75.

Born in Salem, New Jersey in 1940, he married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Loree Swenlin, in 1960. He joined the Coast Guard and served at various ports until he was medically discharged in 1963. Jim and Gladys moved back to South Jersey where they raised two boys. In 2002, they moved to Hampstead.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 29, 2015, at Hampstead United Methodist Church, U.S. 17, Hampstead.

Jim is survived by his wife, Gladys, of Hampstead and two brothers, Huck Booz, of Wallace and Steven Booz, of Williamstown, New Jersey. His son, Brett and his wife, Christy, live in Cutler Bay, Florida with Jim’s only granddaughter, Moriah and five grandsons, Noah, Josiah, Gideon, Ezra and Levi. Four additional grandsons, Gabriel, Ethan, Micah and Jesse, live with his son Bartt and his wife, Rhonda, in Land O’Lakes, Florida.

Jim was a devoted husband, loving father and doting “Poppop.” He will be missed and not forgotten until we are together again in the city of God.
