Jack “Tripp” K. Wilson III, of Wilmington, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after a short battle with cancer. He was 46.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he was the son of Dr. Jack K. Wilson Jr. and Beverly Ingram Wilson. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Melissa Surgenor (Scott); stepmother, Pat; uncles, Kenneth Ingram (Bettie) and Charlie Wilson (Barbara); and a number of step-uncles, cousins and great-aunts.
Tripp could light up a room with his smile. His gentle spirit and kindness was extended to everyone he met. He always found great joy in preparing a meal for friends and family. Growing up in Wilmington, he spent as much time as he could at Wrightsville Beach with his friends. Tripp knew the slap of a wave against his face, the sun on his back and warmth of the sand between his toes. He knew the cold, crisp mornings while out hunting. He knew the love of his dogs and the elation of being outdoors with them as often as he could.
Most of all, Tripp loved his family. He looked up to his father, he adored his big sister, Melissa, and he cherished each and every moment he could spend with his mom. Tripp would want us to remember him in happiness.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or the charity of your choice.
Please leave online condolences for the family at Andrews Mortuary.
