Vittorio Vincenzo DiBacco, of Shallotte, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at home with his family by his side. He was 87.

Mr. DiBacco was born in Italy on Dec. 19, 1927, a son of the late Geocchino and Francesca Presutti DiBacco. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Presutti.

He retired from the maintenance department at General Motors and as a barber. Following his retirement from Buffalo, New York, he and his wife moved to the Shallotte area 16 years ago. He was previously employed with Hair Shapers in Ocean Isle Beach. He was an avid musician and his passion was being a self-taught violinist.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Maria Del Sorbo DiBacco; daughters, Josephine Hipp and husband, Rex, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Francesca Basse, of Buffalo, New York, Jacqueline Boehmer and husband, Gary, of Shallotte, and Vittoria Nixon and husband, Ken, of Charlotte; brother, Walter DiBacco, of Toronto, Canada; and six grandchildren.

Services will be private.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
