Betty Jo Edge, of Calabash, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and friends, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 79.
She was born in Brunswick County on April 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Adrian Dozier Long and Vera McLamb Long Hinson and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Sidelinger.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Jennings Dozier Edge, of the home; children, Gary Edge and wife, Debbie, of Durham, and Adrianna Edge Sidelinger and husband, Michael, of Shallotte; sister, Myrtle Lee Trest, of Calabash; grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Anna Edge, of Nashville, Tennessee, Melanie Edge, of Charlotte, Rebecca Sidelinger, of Raleigh and Lauren Sidelinger, of Shallotte; nephew, Roy D. Trest and wife, Donna, of Calabash; and many extended family members.
The family will receive family and friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Shallotte Chapel and other times at their residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Camp United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Vaughan and Chaplain Charles Fox officiating. Interment will follow at McLamb-Anderson Cemetery at Hickman’s Crossroads.
Pallbearers will be Ben Edge, Chris Edge, Stuart Edge, Kenny Stevens, Bill Twigg and Keith Smith.
The family would like to thank Perlene and Buddy Stanley for their love and support.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
