Bill Hart Kosanke, of Ocean Isle Beach, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 27, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 83.

Mr. Kosanke was born on July 20, 1932, in Chicago, a son of the late Arthur and Florence Black Kosanke.

He graduated from the University of Illinois, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree and was state wrestling lightweight champion. Later, he graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois, where he earned his master’s degree in business administration.

As an avid golfer who retired to Brick Landing Plantation, he celebrated three holes-in-one, each of them being on Hole No. 2. He received three club championships while golfing at “The Brick.”

He served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher for many years. One of his many favorite pastimes was landscaping and to share his passion with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Barbara Sapp Kosanke; sons, David Kosanke, of Adel, Iowa, and Robert Kosanke (Karen), of Southport; daughters, Linda Chambers (Bill), of Cleveland, Tennessee, Karen Gallman (Robert), of Concord, and Mary Richardson, of Ocean Isle Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Seaside United Methodist Church.
