Ann Faulkner Pittman, of Wilmington, died Saturday, July 25, 2015, surrounded by her family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 80.
Ann was born on March 13, 1935, in Carroll County, Virginia, the daughter of her very loving parents, the late Paris and Julina Faulkner. In addition to her two husbands, Charles Rector and Kenneth Pittman, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Smalls and Loretta Dixon, and one brother, P.G. Faulkner.
She was a beloved member of the physical therapy community as she served her profession for more than 40 years and was the 42nd person to be licensed as a physical therapist in the state of North Carolina. During and after her retirement, she devoted her time to outreach community service in her field.
Ann was a devoted member of the Seagate Baptist Church and maintained a strong commitment to her faith until her death. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife and grandmother to her family and had a great love of animals. She touched the lives of countless people and accomplished many lifelong goals of which included making a difference in the lives of others.
She is survived by her children, Della Allen and husband Bryan, of Pittsboro, Teresa Rector, of Wilmington, Ken Pittman, of Jacksonville, Florida, Linda Vescovi and husband, Peter, of Wilmington, and Jeannie Lyndon and husband, David, of Bailey; grandchildren, Alexander Allen, Spencer Vescovi, Chelsa Williams, Emory Lyndon, James Lyndon, Louis Lyndon, Garrett Pittman and Jessica Pittman; brother, Rufus Faulkner, and wife, Shirley, of Lambsburg, Virginia; and sisters, Shirley Bristow and husband, Sam, of Winston-Salem, Burris Sechrist, of Mt. Airy, and Brenda Stokes and husband, Ron, of Winston-Salem.
The family would like to give a special recognition to Beth Bowen, Jane and Danny Hamilton and Connie Stevens.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 514 College Road, Wilmington. Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 2015, at Stantliff-Faulkner Family Cemetery in Lambsburg, Virginia.
