The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department is celebrating its centennial anniversary with a barbecue and other festivities.
The event, sponsored by the Wrighstville Beach Volunteer Firefighters Association, will take place on Thursday, July 30, beginning at 5 p.m. at Wrightsville Beach Park. It is being held in conjunction with the WECT Sounds of Summer concert series.
The 100-year-old fire department, which was chartered on July 28, 1915, will be displaying fire apparatus and have fire safety exhibits. A bounce house will also be set up for children, and commemorative items will be sold.
Barbecue plates will also be available for purchase, courtesy of Mission BBQ.
The concert, featuring the band Bantum Rooster, begins at 6:30 p.m.
