Aimee Mignon Houghton, of Wilmington and a longtime resident of Newtown, Connecticut, died peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2015, at the age of 100.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1914, in Brooklyn, New York, to William and Amanda Lissy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George W. Houghton, and is survived by her three children, William R. Houghton, of Martinez, Georgia, Elizabeth Kiraly, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and James C. Houghton, of Wilmington; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Aimee enjoyed a long marriage with George. They shared love, laughter and a joy of dancing together. She was truly devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook. Her hobbies were knitting and crocheting and earned statewide recognition for her skills.

A mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother – she was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

A private memorial service for the family will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Andrews Valley Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Aimee’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
