Betty Johnson Rodgers, of Bolivia, died Friday July 24, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 81.
Mrs. Rodgers was born in Brunswick County on Jan. 5, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Linnie Mae McDowell Johnson. She was a lifelong member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She was a talented photo colorist and worked for Belk and various other studios throughout her career.
She was employed with Courtland Manufacturing of Appomattox, Virginia, for 10 years and then returned home to Bolivia and was employed with the Village of Bald Head Island in the human resources department.
She is survived by her husband, Lester B. Rodgers; children, Phillip S. Hogan (Heather), of Bedford, Virginia, Donna Alise “Lisie” Stephenson (Marshall), of Carolina Beach, Duane B. Hogan (Donna), of Castle Hayne; grandchildren, Kyle Hogan, Lindsay Hogan, Brandon Kirby, Christina Kirby and Jasara Hogan; great-grandchild, Ashly Gray Hogan; and sister, Shirley Cox, of Richlands.
The family received friends Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service, 1411 N. Howe St., Southport. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July 27, 2015, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Wilmington with the Rev. Jack Edge officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
