Block party to offer free health education and clinic screenings is your source for free news and information in the Wilmington area.

Rock the Block 7, a community health fair sponsored by MedNorth Health Center, aims to provide local residents a free health education and screenings.

The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday Aug. 8, will feature programs that intends to increase awareness and educate the community about health initiatives such as oral health, physical fitness, nutrition, and over-all well being. The block party will also offer screenings and assessments of body mass index, blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, vision and oral screenings along with testing for HIV and Hep C.

Immunizations for kindergarteners and sixth graders will be offered along with backpacks and school supplies.

Anganette Young, CEO of MedNorth, said the Rock the Block health fair “brings important information about healthy living to the community residents, and our health screening services help to save lives.”

The block party- which will be located at the MedNorth Health Center, 925 N. Fourth 4 St. – is free and open to the public and will include entertainment for all ages including a bounce house, line dancing, a Latin dance competition, and talent show.
