Sandra Joy Mintz, 72, retired Brunswick Co. public school educator

Sandra Joy Mintz, of Shallotte, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, after an extended illness. She was 72.

She was born Oct. 20, 1942, the daughter of the late Neil and Gladys Russ Holden.

Sandra graduated from East Carolina University in 1964 with a bachelor of science degree. She was a retired Brunswick County public schools educator.

Surviving are her loving husband, Roy Mintz; sons, Doug Mintz (Joy) and Jeff Mintz, both of Shallotte; grandchildren, Neil Mintz, Drew Mintz, Ashlyn Mintz and Christina Patelos; and brother-in-law, John Mintz (Gloria), of Shallotte.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Camp United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Richard Vaughn and the Rev. George Speake. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Mintz Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Scott Taylor, Ricky Williams, Ernie Crews, Allen Russ, Bobby Williamson and Buddy Milliken. Honorary casket bearers will be Richard Jones, Milton Coleman, Bill Tripp, Glen Humbert, Larry Harrelson, Allen Bellamy and John Donoghue. Special friends and caregivers include Ginger Fulford, Carol Harris, Patricia Cobb, Donna Crews, Debbie Donoghue, Peggy Russ, Kay Coleman and Valerie Taylor.

The family requests memorials be made to the NFK serving the Carolinas, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Suite 810, Charlotte, NC  28209.
