Carl Bernard Schutt Jr., of Wilmington, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at the age of 75.
Carl was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Wilmington, son of the late Carl B. Schutt Sr. and Lida Hobbs Schutt.
After graduating from New Hanover High School in 1958, Carl went on to graduate from N.C. State University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He was an avid sports fan. Carl was a dedicated family man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Phyllis Schutt; children, Carla Reynolds (Trafton), of Buxton, Jason Schutt (Diane), of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Rob Snyder (Shelly), of Yadkinville and Cathy Mitchum (John), of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Carmen Reynolds, Trafton Reynolds II, Carissa Schutt, Josh Schutt, Cortland Snyder and Carson Snyder; and sister, Sylvia Hales, of Wilmington.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Dr. Allen McKeithan and the Rev. Patrick Rabun officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Oakdale Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the caregivers at Trinity Grove for their loving care and for embracing his sense of humor.
