Painters and sketchers take note: The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center wants to see your work.

The downtown center is accepting submissions of the two-dimensional variety now through Sept. 30 for the first annual ARTfall Juried Art Show and Sale, set for Oct. 14-18. The inaugural event is held as part of the ARTblast Festival, a local celebration of the performing and visual arts at various locations in downtown Wilmington.

Visitors to ARTblast will be able to view the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day during the festival. An artists’ reception and awards presentation is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 15.

The Hannah Block center is seeking original artwork completed within the last two years, with preference given to artists from the Lower Cape Fear area.

Selections are made by a review panel, which will consider up to five digital images of works. Artists can also submit resumes, exhibit history and website addresses to aid in the selection process. Works must be suitable for viewing by the general public.

At the time of installation, each chosen artist will be responsible for completing a consignment agreement with a member of the arts center staff and provide a complete inventory of works. Hannah Block will collect 20 percent on all sales during the exhibition.
