William “Billy” A. Long Jr.

William “Billy” A. Long Jr., of Wilmington, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at the age of 72.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William Ardell Long Sr. and Lillie Dell Pope and siblings, Charlotte Long Guyton, Betsy Long Rivenbark and Gloria Fay Long Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Loyce Flake Long; daughter, Wanda Lanette Long; stepdaughter, Patricia Flake Thornton (Danny); sister, Margaret Long Piner; grandchildren, Amber Shipman Simpson, Whitney Lanette Shipman and Brenlee Flake Thornton; and great-grandson, Jaiden Travis Simpson.

Billy was a member of Sunset Park Baptist Church, owned Long Auto Sales and was a car upholsterer, but his greatest passion was witnessing and sharing his love for the Lord. He volunteered at the Cape Fear Rescue Mission.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at Sunset Park Baptist Church followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Moore’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Currie.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Elderhaus Pace Program.
