Crime notebook: Man injured in Thursday shooting on 11th Street

A 26-year-old man Wilmington was seriously injured in a shooting early Thursday morning.

The shooting occurred in the area of South 11th and Orange streets at about 3:30 a.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

A victim arrived at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and was treated for multiple gunshot wounds, Lindsay said.

Two men assaulted, robbed in separate armed robberies

A 25-year-old man and a Sonic employee were injured in separate armed robberies Wednesday night in Wilmington.

A man was reportedly robbed by six suspects in the 1100 block of Dawson Street at about 11 p.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. The suspects – each of whom described as a black man – reportedly hit the 25-year-old victim with a gun and took the victim’s money and cell phone. The suspects ran from the area. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

A Sonic employee was reportedly robbed at gunpoint by two black men while delivering drinks at the restaurant at 4206 Market St. just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lindsay. One suspect reportedly held a gun to the back of the victim’s head and demanded money. The suspects hit the victim over the head several times, took money from the victim and fled south toward Carmike 16 Cinema on Cinema Drive. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
