Willis Rinehardt ‘Buddy’ Boyd Jr., 89, former Toyota City Auto Company VP

Willis Rinehardt “Buddy” Boyd Jr., of Sunset Beach, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at his residence. He was 89.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sept. 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Willis R. Boyd Sr. and Vera Quarles Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one grandson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, was employed for a number of years by Frank Wood Pontiac Company as a general manager and later was a general manager and the vice president of Toyota City Auto Company.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Brooks (Motty) Boyd, of the home; son, Steve Boyd, of Augusta, Georgia; daughter, Teresa B. Cochrane (Bill), of Southern Pines; grandsons, Jason and Andrew Cochrane; and great-grandsons, Noah and Tucker Cochrane.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Seaside United Methodist Church followed by inurnment at the church columbarium.

Memorials may be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or the Food Pantry at Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Road S.W., Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
