In the 2A classification, Preston Ellenburg, Kasey Klutz, Jessie Williams and Kaylynn Batten helped guide North Brunswick to an 18-6 mark as the East Central Conference Champions.

Klutz and Ellenburg had standout senior years as both athletes will take their talents to the college level. Ellenburg finished with a .517 batting average, seven doubles and 20 runs batted in. Klutz hit 16 doubles, with three triples and three home runs. Williams made All-State as a freshman after posting a 7-2 record, with a 1.72 ERA.

The Topsail softball team advanced to the 3A East Regional this season and clinched the Mideastern Conference Championship. The Pirates were 20-8 overall and 11-1 in league play under the direction of first-year coach Jay Abston.

Four Wilmington standouts from three different schools rounded out the list of local ballplayers to make All-State.

Schae Dickson was a standout for Coach Chip Adams at Ashley High School for four years, while Aleah Thompson and Brooke Benton propelled Hoggard to a successful season in the split 3A/4A Mideastern Conference. Thompson was a .344 hitter, with 16 RBIs as a junior. Benton hit .333 as a sophomore and led the team in putouts.
