Cmdr. William ‘Bill’ Richard Dlwgosh, 68, US Navy soldier

Cmdr. William “Bill” Richard Dlwgosh, of Carolina Shores, died Friday, July 3, 2015, at the age of 68.

Mr. Dlwgosh was born July 17, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late William Joseph Dlwgosh and Mary Louise Dlwgosh. He retired after 30 years as a junior high school teacher.

Mr. Dlwgosh also retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves where he served for 22 years and achieved the rank of commander. Mr. Dlwgosh was a member of the Calabash American Legion Post and attended St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church.

He had a passion for teaching, coaching football and loved his time in the Navy. He was an avid golfer and fisherman who truly enjoyed his time with his buddies since moving to Carolina Shores from Ohio in 2010.

Surviving are his son, William “Darby” Dlwgosh and wife, Natalie, of Toronto, Canada, and three brothers, Daniel Dlwgosh and wife, Sheila, of Youngstown, Ohio, Thomas Delgosh and wife, Lauren, of Southport, and Dr. Robert Dlwgosh and wife, Maria, of Ashtabula, Ohio.

At Mr. Dlwgosh’s request he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at sea in the Western Pacific Ocean aboard a U.S. Naval vessel with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, North Carolina 28422.
