Weekend crime report: Man shot during home invasion, police search for hit-and-run vehicle

A 28-year-old man was injured during a home invasion in the 700 block of McMillan Avenue on Thursday night.

Four men–three of whom were black and one of whom was white–reportedly forced their way into the man’s apartment and demanded money, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. The men allegedly assaulted the victim and shot in him in his right leg.

He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The suspects fled the home. No other suspect information was released.

“Police believe this to be a targeted incident,” Lindsay said.

Hit-and-run on College Road

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who reportedly struck a pedestrian on College Road, seriously injuring the woman.

The woman was struck at about 9 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South College Road and South Cedar Avenue. Police did not have any description of the vehicle or the driver.
