Tracy Everette Gwinn, of Rocky Point, died peacefully July 5, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 83.

He was born in Carlisle, West Virginia, on Jan. 23, 1932.

Tracy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fern Gwinn; son, the Rev. Marvin T. Gwinn (Jill); grandchildren, Rachel G. Nelson (Scott) and Joshua D. Gwinn (April); and great-grandchildren, Haiden E. Honeycutt, Macy L. Nelson, Gunner S. Nelson, Landon M. Gwinn and Reagan E. Gwinn.

Tracy served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was employed by Bobcock and Wilcox Co. in Barberton, Ohio, for 32 years. He loved to go to church, to fish, work on cars, work in his yard and enjoyed all activities outdoors.

He served as a church usher at the River at Wrightsville Avenue Church of God. He loved spending time with his family and loved to eat. He was a devout sports fan and loved the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns.

His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at the River at Wrightsville Avenue Church of God, 2132 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
