Carl Adrian Lahetta, of Leland, died peacefully on Wednesday July 1, 2015, at his residence. He was 73.

He was born in Lorain, Ohio, on Jan. 28, 1942, the son of the late William Lahetta and Martha Ericson Lahetta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul, and a nephew, Jimmy.

Carl retired from R.R. Donnelley’s Book Group in New York. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army in the First Missile Battalion in the 18th Field Artillery Group at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Carl was a devoted husband, celebrating 51 years of marriage to his wife, Marcy. Carl was a proud father to his sons, Carl and wife, Suzanne, and Michael and wife, Michelle. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Meredith, Sean, Jacob, Mia, Alexandra, Megan and Ryan; his sisters and brothers, Carol Moran and husband, Tom, Judy Rusin and husband, Larry, Mary Jo Rodriguez, M.J. Kerr, Bill Lahetta and wife, Pearl, Tom Lahetta and wife, Chris, James Lahetta and wife, Glori, and Phillip Lahetta; sisters-in-law, Mavis Strieter, Betty Hass and husband, Jim, Marlene Gemberowski, Eleanor Donnenworth, Kay Lickly and Gail Savell and husband, Dean; and many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington and at other times at their residence. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday July 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 411 Market St., Wilmington, officiated by Dr. Matt Cook. Inurnment will follow at the church gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund, 411 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401 or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
