Three men have been charged with multiple sex offenses in separate cases in Wilmington.
Joshua Dustin Lutz, 41, of Carolina Avenue in Wilmington, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of statutory rape of a minor and one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.
The female victims were under the age of 15 years old, Lindsay said. Lutz bonded out of the New Hanover County jail on June 23 under a $150,000 secure bond, but was arrested again with additional charges on June 25. He is in custody at the New Hanover County jail under a $1 million secured bond.
Louis Antonio Benitez, 25, of Wilmington, has been charged with first-degree sexual offense, indecent liberties with a child and felony disseminate obscenity, according to Lindsay. He was arrested June 29 on Greenville Loop Road and charged in connection with a sexual assault on a female victim under 13 years old. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
In an earlier arrest, 42-year-old Ronnie Eugene Smith was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape of a minor, Lindsay said. Smith, of Wilmington, was arrested on June 17 and charged in connection with a sexual assault on a female victim under 16 years old. He was released from the New Hanover County jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
