STL FC had a number of opportunities to make the breakthrough against the Hammerheads, but couldn’t make them count. The visitors edged Wilmington in shots 12-11.

Jermie Lynch had the best attempt of the game for Saint Louis, crashing a shot off the crossbar just before the referee whistled for halftime.  The Jamaican rang the bar again in second half stoppage time as a foul before getting his shot off.

Wilmington started the final 45 minutes brightly when STL FC responded with two shots from Bryan Gaull, who played a ball at the top of the penalty area, sending his first shot high and had his second attempt saved by Hammerheads goalkeeper Andre Rawls.

Wilmington created some good pressure and a number of half chances, but never really troubled the visitors as Alec  Kann was credited with five saves in the match.

The Hammerheads begin a two-game road trip at Harrisburg City on July 4. Saint Louis FC concludes a two-game swing away from the Midwest when it faces Charlotte Independence.
