Morten Mortensen Hansen III, 75, developed Thistle Golf Course

Morten Mortensen Hansen III, of Carolina Shores, died peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his home. He was 75.

Mr. Hansen was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in South Orange, New Jersey, a son of the late Morten Mortensen Hansen Jr. and Jeanne McGee Hansen.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Hansen was past master of Spring Lake Lodge, New Jersey, AF & AM Lodge #239. He was also a shriner.

He was the developer, owner and operator of Thistle Golf Course in 1998. He served the golfing industry for over 34 years, also having owned the Bel-Aire Golf Course in Wall Township, New Jersey.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Heyniger Hansen; two sons, Leigh Hansen and wife, Trisha, of Sunset Beach, and Gregory Hansen and wife, Kristi, of Sunset Beach; daughter, Lori Hansen and fiancé, Vernon, of Shallotte; six grandchildren, Timothy Disano, Daniel Disano, Garrett Hansen, Alexis Jones, Myles Hansen and Emily Hansen; and his beloved Westie, McDougal.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel followed by a celebration of life conducted by the Rev. Jack Patrick with masonic rites. Inurnment will be private and will be held at the Brunswick Memorial Gardens Columbarium.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to a charity of one’s choice in Mr. Hansen’s memory.
