Crime notebook: Wilmington man, teen charged with trafficking heroin

A Wilmington man and a teenage girl who were recently arrested at a Market Street hotel are facing multiple drug charges, including trafficking heroin.

Timothy Maurice Harris, 33, and Christina Tiarra Jett, 17, were arrested after detectives executed a search warrant at The Carolinian Inn, 2916 Market St., at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

Detectives received information that the suspects were allegedly selling narcotics at the hotel and conducted surveillance of a room, Lindsay said. Drug agents seized 200 bags of heroin and 2 grams of crack cocaine from the hotel room.

Harris has been charged with trafficking heroin; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin; maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance; manufacture, sell, deliver or possess a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the New Hanover County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.

Jett, of Leland, was charged with trafficking heroin; possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine; maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin; manufacture, sell, deliver or possess a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park; possession of drug paraphernalia; and failure to appear on misdemeanor. She was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
