Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery reported at a gas station store early Thursday morning.

Allan William Anderson II, 42, was arrested Thursday night on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, safecracking and misdemeanor larceny, according to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer.

Anderson has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at the Scotchman, 5302 Carolina Beach Road, at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Brewer said. A man reportedly entered the store armed with a small knife and took several cartons of cigarettes and cash.

Anderson was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $50,355 secured bond.

Wilmington police are investigating an armed robbery reported at a gas station in the Pine Grove area.

A store clerk was rob at gunpoint at the Exxon gas station, 815 Pine Grove Drive, at just before 2 a.m. Friday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

The suspect reportedly took money and Newport cigarettes from the store, Lindsay said. The suspect ran out the door toward the back of the business.

The suspect carried a silver handgun and wore a white hooded sweatshirt and a tan mask over his face, Lindsay said.
