Hayden Clement Miller Jr., 75, 20-year East Spencer volunteer fire department cheif

Hayden Clement Miller Jr., of Supply and formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the age of 75.

Born in Rowan County on March 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Hayden Clement and Annie Elizabeth Overman Miller Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Miller Hawks.

He was a veteran of the N.C. National Guard, a former assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 349 for more than 20 years, a member and past chief of the East Spencer VFD for more than 20 years and a retired electrician having been employed by Duckworth Electrical and a member of the IBEW Electrical Union.

Surviving are his wife, Ronda Whitman Miller; a son, Hayden C. “Chip” Miller III and wife, Spring Brown Miller, of Salisbury; two brothers, Donnie Miller and Howard Miller, both of Salisbury; grandchildren, Kori Miller and Maicy Miller; and his beloved animals, Bella and Black Jack.

A celebration of life will be conducted Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Sharon United Methodist Church at a time to be announced.
