Alice Faye Lewis Laverdure, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 73.
Alice was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Burgaw, daughter of the late William Jasper Lewis and Lydia Rivenbark Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John Laverdure Sr.; her grandson, Jonathan Richard Laverdure; and brother, Alton Ray Lewis.
Alice was a pastor’s wife for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a dedicated and faithful Christian who impacted many lives for the kingdom of God.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Laverdure Jr. (Clarice) and Gary Laverdure (Leighann), all of Wilmington and Bruce Laverdure (Angela), of Burgaw; four grandchildren, Brittany Clark (Aaron), Katie Laverdure, Deven Laverdure and Austin Laverdure; great-grandchild, Nathan Clark; brother, Ira Lewis (Barbara), of Carolina Beach; sister, Dorothy Butts and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lewis, both of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Andrews Valley Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Glasgow officiating. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
