Crime notebook: Carolina Beach police search for man, woman wanted for questioning

Detectives with the Carolina Beach Police Department recently released surveillance video of a man and woman wanted for questioning in a breaking and entering reported last month.

The suspects are wanted in connection with a breaking and entering into a vehicle reported at Atlantic Towers Oceanfront Suites, 1615 S. Lake Park Blvd., and reportedly using a stolen credit card at McDonald’s, 220 N. Lake Park Blvd., between 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. May 30, according to a news release sent Tuesday from the police department.

They may be operating a silver four-door vehicle with a sunroof and possibly a black hood, Earl said.

Four men face heroin, cocaine charges

Four men were recently arrested on multiple drug charges in a multi-agency investigation that ended with the seizure of cocaine and heroin from a home in downtown Wilmington.

Francisco Adrian Nunez, 27, Alquah Omar Drakeford, 24, Daquah Lamar Drakeford, 25, and Maurice Jerome Jones, 39, were arrested after detectives executed a search warrant in the 1100 block of Cowan Street on June 17, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer said in a news release sent Tuesday.

The investigation began when the sheriff’s office received “multiple complaints about drug activity coming from 1115 Cowan St.,” Brewer said.

Detectives reportedly seized cocaine and more than 100 bags of heroin from the residence. The six-month investigation was conducted in partnership with the Wilmington Police Department and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Brewer said.

Nunez, of Metting Road in Wilmington, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, three counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, selling or delivering cocaine and selling heroin. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $750,000 secured bond.

Alquah Drakeford, of Cowan Street in Wilmington, has been charged with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, two counts of manufacturing or possessing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, selling or delivering a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, and possession of cocaine. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $750,000 secured bond.

Daquah Drakeford, of Cowan Street in Wilmington, has been charged with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, manufacture or possess a controlled substance within a 1,000 feet of a park, selling or delivering a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a heroin, possession of cocaine and two counts of manufacture, sell, deliver or possess a controlled substance near a playground. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $1,000,500 secured bond.

Jones, of Vance Street in Wilmington, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver heroin, possession of cocaine and manufacture or possess a controlled substance within a 1,000 of a park. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
