Hampstead Post 167 sent eight or more hitters to the plate in three of the seven innings played as the black and gold pounded 20 hits in a 19-5 rout over Whiteville Post 137 at Topsail High School on Monday night.

With two outs and down by one in the bottom of the second, Josh Madole and Jake Madole each drove in a pair of runs to take a 4-1 lead before the flood gates opened for Hampstead. Post 167 had 11 players finish with at least one hit.

Cameron Guertin smacked a solo shot over the wall in left-center with one out in the third and Michael Stroman drilled a grand slam home run to right in the fourth to put things out of reach.

Payton Rice got the victory, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings, while Jordan Flora let up three runs-none earned-in three innings of work.

Guertin and Mason Berne went a combined 5-for-6, with one walk, two run batted in and four runs scored. Sam Luchansky and Jake Madole each hit doubles. Josh Madole also drove in four runs on three hits.

Hampstead Post 167 moved to 4-1 in conference and continue a three-game homestand against Wilmington Post 10 on Wednesday, June 24. First-pitch is slated for 7 p.m. at Topsail High School.
