Wilmington police are investigating two armed robberies reported Thursday night and Friday morning.
Two masked men reportedly entered a Walgreens at 2130 S. 17th St. just before 11 p.m. Thursday and robbed the clerk at gunpoint, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. The suspects reportedly stole cash from the register and several boxes of Newport cigarettes.
The two suspects, who wore dark clothing and dark bandannas, ran from the business in an unknown direction.
A 26-year-old man was robbed while walking home from work in the 300 block of Red Cross Street just before 1 a.m. Friday, Lindsay said. Two men hit the victim from behind and took his backpack, cell phone and cash at gunpoint.
One suspect was described as a black male who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He wore a black bandanna. The second suspect was described as a heavy-set black man.
