Travis Mabry Wells, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was 81.

He was born in Duplin County on Dec. 27, 1933, son of the late Eugene Wells and Ruth Hudson Wells. His wife, Ann Ward Wells, preceded him in death in 1996.

Mr. Wells was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a longtime member of Windermere Presbyterian Church. He was a senior auditor with the North Carolina State Department of Revenue, retiring with over 30 years of service. Mr. Wells was an avid race car fan and an owner and driver for many years. He enjoyed shagging and square dancing and was a member of the 76’ers Square Dance Club.

Surviving are his sons, Brent Wells and wife, Sharon and Brandon Wells and wife, Nicole; grandchildren, Jeremy Wells, Tara Martin and husband, Travis and their child, Brooks Martin, Jessica Wells and Jake Wells; a brother, Charles Wells and wife, Lorene, of Greensboro; and a niece, Lori Wells-Penry.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28401.
