Roy Edward Floyd, of Wilmington, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at his residence. He was 78.

He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Evergreen, son of the late Roy and Earlie Lee Floyd. Roy was a longtime member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years. He also loved trains and model railroading.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Dyson Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Dubay Floyd; son, Stewart A. Floyd, of Roanoke, Virginia; brothers, Neil Floyd, Mitchell Floyd and Noah Floyd; sisters, Geneva Hall, Lizzie Hammond and Doris Smith; several nieces and nephews; his friends at Castle Hayne Baptist Church; and his special friends, Katie Freeman, Tom and Barbara Gore and the Bramer family.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Oleander Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Castle Hayne Baptist Church, 4535 Parmele Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
