Three men pleaded guilty in New Hanover County Superior Court last week in separate sexual assault cases against children.
Christopher Muldrow, 43, pleaded guilty to first-degree rape and taking indecent liberties with a child, according to a news release from District Attorney Ben David. The investigation revealed Muldrow was engaged in a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old child he met while dating the child’s mother.
Superior Court Judge Phyllis Gorham sentenced Muldrow to more than 20 years in prison. Muldrow is required to register as a sex offender and enroll in satellite based monitoring for life.
Nolberto Santiago Garcia, 23, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual offense and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, David said. Garcia was accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old child in June 2014. Gorham sentenced Garcia to more than 20 years in prison. He is required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.
Tony James Veiga, 38, pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with a child. The victim was the daughter of a family friend. Veiga was sentenced to more than a year in prison followed by five years of probation.
