Eight of nine batters in the starting lineup notched hits, while Wilmington tallied 12 hits for the third consecutive game. UNCW rising senior Steven Linkous went 1-for-5 at the plate.

Coach Parker Bangs sent Foy up to bat for Joe Bialkowski in the ninth and the Davidson standout singled into right field to drive in Matt Whatley, who served as a pinch runner for catcher Jose Hernandez. Thursday night’s victory gives Wilmington a road record of 4-2 this season, and 2-0 in Fayetteville. Wilmington has scored 44 runs across seven games away from home.

Hernandez went 4-for-5 to pace the attack with a pair of runs batted in.

The Sharks play their third road game in as many days as they travel up the coast to Morehead City on Friday night, before traveling to Florence, South Carolina, for a date with the Red Wolves on Saturday.
