Cape Fear Community College Athletics and the CFCC Foundation have once again partnered with NewBridge Bank for the fourth annual NewBridge Bank Bridge to Bridge race.  It includes a 4-mile run and 1-mile walk, which will take participants from the Isabel Holmes Bridge to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge through some of the most scenic areas of downtown Wilmington.

The race, which benefits athletic scholarships on campus, will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11. The  finish line consists of a celebration at the Schwartz Center with food, beverages and community supporters.

“We’ve raised nearly $15,000 annually from the races in years past,” said CFCC Athletics Director Robby McGee. “We will continue to grow due the college leadership, donors, community partnerships, and volunteers involved–so many exceptional people.

“More importantly, over the past four years, we’ve increased our participant and donor involvement as well, which is a great testament on how we manage the race. NewBridge Bank has stepped up and provided the title sponsorship the past four years and we cannot thank them enough for their partnership and professionalism.”

Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top two age group finishers: 15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70, and team award for the fastest team (which is determined by taking the four fastest times of each team).

The CFCC Foundation exists to support the students, faculty, academic programs and mission of the college. Most of the funds raised are designated for students in the form of scholarships to directly help them with their education.
